Angie’s Models Showcase

Talent scouts, members of the media, and local fashionistas gathered at the National War Museum on Saturday, May 28 for Angie’s Models and Talent International annual showcase. Bringing on their best, models strut down the runway in hopes of being given a life-changing opportunity.

While the show focused mainly on the talent, the designers outfitting the model’s put on an equally good show. Canadian designers ranging from swimwear by Stoked Ego, rocker street style by Demu Label, and well-known retailers like The Children’s Place. Also amongst the designers were faces familiar to the Ottawa Fashion Week runway – Jana Hanzel, Rachel Sin, Anomal, and Micalla. The night ended with a powerful collection from Haitian native and OFW vetran, Ralph Leroy.

Congratulations to all the models and Angie’s team for their outstanding work! This was definitely a night of poise, style, and talent.

RIP THE FAB LANE

Last Night, the fashion glitterati flocked to the National Arts Centre’s Panorama Room for I AM FASHION: RIP THE FAB LANE. The event, many of Ottawa’s best dressed in attendance,  awarded exclusive showings of Spring/Summer 2011 collections for charity from Canada’s as well as international up and coming designers.

The party kicked off with a fabulous showing of I B I S M (I Believe In Something More) ripping the runway with textured knits, eyelets, lace and daring styling (Scarf and cinched belt as a top? Fierce!). Then things turned lady-like with MIIKALI, the Colombian born designer presenting her first collection in Canada. Silky dresses, ruffled skirts, brocade and ikat-like prints all topped off with beautiful feathered millinery by the designer.  Afterwards things got funky with the spunky Geneviève Couture and her VIVI ready-to-wear and bridal collections. Bold floral prints and satin cargos graced her ready-to-wear, while tulle and matrimonial fantasy graced the runway for her bridal collection. The event heated up with utterly seductive lingerie from Lilac Lingerie. The models, with fresh lilacs in their hair, exuded sexiness while ripping the runway in sheer floral prints, bold colours, and of course, black lace. See below for some pictures and video SK took of the show.

Other designers showcased at RIP THE RUNWAY included; frAsh Femme, Mexx Silver City, INMYSKYVVYS, Pride & Ego, ImFresh, and TFR by Gwen Madiba.
